Housing for New Hope, a Durham-based nonprofit, is celebrating the renovation of their new Holloway Place located at 1404 Holloway Street, Durham, NC on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 11am. Previously known as the Dove House, Holloway Place will be an affordable housing co-living space option for single women.
With a grant from the City of Durham and other generous donors, Holloway Place will create a sense of "Hope Together” in Durham, or the idea that we can collectively have an impact on homelessness in our community. Renovations on Holloway Place will be performed by Haven Design Build, Ted’s Electrical & HVAC, JVG Plumbing, and Simpson Electrical. We are happy to announce that Mayor Steve Schewel will be in attendance to help us celebrate the increase of affordable housing units in Durham.
“The creation of the co-living environment for women at Holloway place will enable the residents to have a safe and affordable community for them to call home.” Says Chip Dudney, Housing for New Hope Interim Executive Director. “The stress of securing an affordable place to call home can lead to physical and mental health issues and in turn reduce the opportunity for successful work and personal relationships. Our goal in creating Holloway Place is to create an environment for working women to feel at home and to be part of positive community which enriches their lives.”
The Holloway Place groundbreaking will take place on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 11am. Community members are welcome and encouraged to attend the event.
