HNH Clinical Housing Coordinator
Name & Position Title
Veronica Mial, Clinical Housing Coordinator
What is your interest in affordable housing/homelessness services? Why do you feel the work HNH does is important?
The affordable housing crisis has stripped families and single adults from their right to safe and affordable living, which has a direct impact on their mental and physical well-being. Much of our homeless population struggle to make day-to-day decisions and while some are faced with mental illness and other chronic conditions, every individual should have access to safe and affordable housing. Housing should not be a luxury but a right. Housing for New Hope not only works to seek out safe and affordable housing options for our clients, but the true works comes from the hope, and encouragement that we instill in our clients on a day to day basis. We understand that there is no one-size-fits-all, and no two cases are the same, but our staff and mission go hand-in-hand, which makes us a very valuable force in the community.
What is your favorite thing to do in Durham/love the most about our city?
My favorite thing to do in Durham is to visit the eateries. I enjoy indulging in meals at any small "Mom and Pop" restaurants because I believe in pouring money back into the community. I love that Durham natives tend to support the non-food chain restaurants just as much as they do Bojangles and Chick-Fil-A.
What is your personal fundraising goal?
I think it would be awesome if I could raise at least $1000!
